Allegany County Tourism Launches MountainMarylandDELuxe.com
The new initiative will serve as a travel-focused resource for festival goers

April 10, 2018 – CUMBERLAND, MD
– Allegany County Tourism has announced the launch of www.MountainMarylandDELuxe.com, a new travel-focused website to complement the 11th Annual DelFest. Designed and managed by Allegany County Tourism, this new website will serve as a resource for the DelFest festival community as well as a marketing tool to promote the many travel experiences and amenities within our region.

“DelFest provides a great opportunity for Allegany County, Maryland, to sell itself as a true travel destination,” stated Ashli Workman, Director of Allegany County Tourism. “With thousands of festival goers entering our community each year, we launched this website with the idea of providing a convenient customer-service focused approach to travel as well as the opportunity to market ourselves.”

According to High Sierra Music, the production company associated with DelFest, 6,000-8,000 ticket holders attend the festival each year. The new website provides a list of county lodging, dining opportunities, and a things-to-do section promoting community events, outdoor recreation, shopping, and attractions worth exploring as part of the festival experience. The website also features a resources guide with transportation information and lists of nearby gas stations, grocery stores, and beer stores.

“Come early. Stay late. That is our motto with the new website,” added Workman. “We have a lot to offer, and our goal is to capture pre-, post-, and return stays as well as provide in-destination travel resources.”

The 11th Annual DelFest will take place from May 24-27, 2018, and at the Allegany County Fairgrounds in Cumberland, Maryland. For more information on the festival lineup and ticket sales, please visit www.delfest.com.

Allegany County, Maryland, Takes Home Multiple ‘Best of Awards’ from Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine
Local favorites sweep the food and beverage categories.

JANUARY 4, 2018 – CUMBERLAND, MD – Looking for a place to dine? Well, then look no further than your own backyard. Five local area food and beverage establishments took home Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine’s recently announced ‘Best of Awards’ in its January 2018 issue.

This is Blue Ridge Outdoors’ fifth annual Best of Awards, which consisted of an online nomination then polling process. 75 categories are featured within the publication from best local outdoor experiences to events, and from local adventurers to guides/outfitters. But it was the food and beverage category specifically in which Allegany County was well represented, beating out competition from nine states and Washington, D.C.

Best Bar / Pub – Dante’s Bar – Frostburg, Maryland
www.dantesbarfrostburg.com

Best Brewery – 1812 Brewery – Cumberland, Maryland
www.1812brewery.com

Best Coffee Shop – Clatter Coffee – Frostburg, Maryland

Best Farm-to-Table Restaurant – SHiFT, Frostburg, Maryland

Best Winery – Toasted Goat – Frostburg, Maryland
www.toastedgoatwinery.com

Under the Best Taco category, Frostburg’s A Place to Eat earned a finalist award. Only two finalists were listed outside of the best of winner.

“What is impressive outside of the recognition is that many of these establishments are within a year or two of operation,” says Ashli Workman, director of tourism for Allegany County, Maryland. “These awards not only symbolize their impact to our community and to the visitor experience, but the influence food culture has on destination travel.”

The full feature is now available in the January 2018 issue of Blue Ridge Outdoors. The region was also recently featured by Blue Ridge Outdoors as a Top Adventure Town for 2017. A designation the community can tout for the coming year.
